Open source licenses

NyXGridEncode uses the open source software listed below. All copyrights remain with their respective owners, and each component is used in accordance with its own license.

About NyXGridEncode itself

NyXGridEncode is proprietary software developed by InformationCloset. It is not open source. This page lists the licenses of the third-party software the product uses.

NyXGridEncode.exe ships as a single executable, but it bundles the software listed below.

.NET RuntimePublished with Native AOT, so the runtime is part of the executable .NET Foundation and Contributors MIT License

External tools not included in the download

The external tools are not part of the download. Your PC downloads each one directly from its publisher. Use "Tools > External Tools" in the application to get them.

Tool Purpose License
FFmpeg Media information, black bar detection and CPU encoding (required) GPL v3
NVEncC Encoding on NVIDIA GPUs MIT License
QSVEncC Encoding on Intel GPUs MIT License
VCEEncC Encoding on AMD GPUs MIT License
libVLC Playback in the Adjust window LGPL v2.1 or later

The DLLs bundled with NVEncC, QSVEncC and VCEEncC are licensed under FFmpeg's LGPL.

Why they are not bundled

Every publicly released build of these tools contains an HEVC encoder or decoder, so bundling one would bring the product under the HEVC patent pool license. Instead, each tool is downloaded directly from its publisher to your PC.

Full license texts and source code

  • The full license texts are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt, which ships with the download. The download source and license of each external tool are also listed in the included readme-en.txt (readme.txt in Japanese).
  • The LGPL components (LibVLCSharp and libVLC) are used without modification. Complete source code is available from the publishers linked above, and we will also provide it on request in accordance with the license.
  • If you redistribute the external tools to a third party, you are responsible for complying with the license terms of each distribution.
